Jarek Wierny
Born in 1973, he has been working with computer graphics and computer music since 1984, beginning with the first generation of home computers. His artistic practice spans digital and fractal art, with a particular interest in the relationship between mathematical structures, the HwaYen philosophy, and new media.
In 2006, his work Xolis was selected for the international exhibition Fractal Art: Beauty and Mathematics, presented in conjunction with the International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid. The competition jury was chaired by Benoît Mandelbrot. The exhibition was later also featured in the Mathematical Imagery gallery of the American Mathematical Society.
Alongside his visual practice, he works as a translator and publisher of Buddhist literature and develops projects at the intersection of culture, spirituality, and new media. As president of the Rogaty Budda Foundation, he is involved in publishing, cultural initiatives, and multimedia projects promoting literature, art, and Buddhist traditions. He also writes prose and poetry and creates experimental music, including through the Contemplatron project, active since 2003, as well as other audiovisual works.
Explore the gallery below, which currently presents a selection of fractal works created in UltraFractal since 2003, and read a selection of texts on fractals, generative art, mathematics, spirituality, and new media in. The website will soon be redesigned and expanded to include newer works created with contemporary generative tools, alongside selected analog works — FractalGuru.
